Chances are you are barbecuing today, so why not do what you can to reduce your environmental impact while you are at it. For starters, plastic tableware and Styrofoam plates should be avoided at all cost, even if it means that you have to do a little extra cleaning up. Also, instead of using plastic or Styrofoam disposable cups use your own glasses, or if your worried about breakage, use some sturdy reusable plastic cups or even some paper cups (if you recycle them). Next up are the condiments, instead of buying small plastic containers of ketchup, mayo and mustard, why not buy in bulk and get some huge containers(preferably glass) instead. Better yet make your own mayo from eggs and oil and create your own BBQ sauce instead of buying the store bought stuff. Next comes refreshments, avoid buying any drinks in plastic containers, aluminum and glass are much better for the environment(if recycled) and put out a recycling bin and tell people to toss there empty beverages there. And finally, watch the BBQ beans as they will cause more methane to be released into the atmosphere.
