Hey, has anyone here installed solar panels themselves before? I’ve been wanting to go solar now for some time and have been doing a lot of research. However, some of the things seem very technical and I’m not really a techie. I have no problem picking things up, nailing them in, and construction-type work, but I know nothing about watts or amps.

Do you think it would be smart to go with a solar installation company, or should I just suck it up and learn this stuff?

In your case, I would highly recommend having a professional install your system. A solar system install is a very complicated thing and there are alot of calculations that need to be done.

What I always recommend is that people shop around and buy the system that they want and then find a professional to install it. This way you eliminate the markup that the installer puts on the system.

Thanks adam,

I’ve been looking at a few of them, but do you have any recommendations on who’s best? I’m located in Vermont

If you are talking about solar panels, I would go with ones with a high efficiency. As far as I know, Mitsubishi panels have the highest efficiency at this time and are not too expensive.
If you are really in the market let us know, we have access to pretty much any manufacturer you can think of, and we will gladly give you a good competitive quote.

It’s definitely possible to install your own solar panels. I think it’s a great idea and I believe it is becoming more popular. It’s also a great way to save money. You could get someone to do it for you or you could do it yourself. There are many sources on the internet that could help you out.
