Anyone else thrilled with California’s stand on emissions? I think all states should adopt similar restrictions.

Well I would make a comment on it if I knew what it was.  Why don’t you explain to the rest of the world what it is that California does.  Not everyone lives in California and we would all like to know what you think they are doing right.

When you ask a question like that no one can really comment unless they know what you are talking about.

Although the state I live in has some sort of standard the county I live has a high standard and an emissions test is required each year with auto registrations and renewals. if you can is even slightly over then you fail and it is automatically sent to the state, alerting them.

Oh yes!  Let’s all have them.  They don’t help that much and they make gas, what is it now, over $4.00 a gallon.  Jump on that bandwagon.  LOL  rolleyes

Rowena,

Basically California has the strictest emissions standards in tthe US. Each year when you go and get a new inspection sticker, your car must pass the emision test. The mechanic sticks a special guage in the tailpipe to measure the polutants comming out and it is too high, you cant get an inspection sticker (and cant legally drive) until you bring it in and get the catylitic converter (or whatever)  fixed or replaced.

Its a good ideea, but it does put a strain or poorer people who cant afford to fix up their old cars. Even though, I think it is a good idea and it is forcing car companies to create cleaner cars with better gas mileage.

Here is the same thing but instead of a sticker it is a certificate, if it fails the certificate says it fails and you have to fix the problem and have it retested. Those test results are sent to the state where they are compared with the certificate to make sure that someone is faking a certificate. I think it is great.

I am curious to know how higher emissions standards increase the price of gas. I have never heard this before and fail to see how it effects it. Can you please explain this so that I understand how it affects it and why.

I still believe that in the larger scheme of things the changes we seek will happen naturally if we all do our part as consumers and only buy green, organic, low emission and alternative energy products.

Our earth will live alooooooooooooooooooooong time
