i have not heard of this method to heat and cool your home.  How much area would be needed on the side of the home to use this type of system?

well it depends.

If you do not have alot or area on the side of your home, you can use verticle drilling and have your tubes running down about 200 ft.

If you have plenty of room, you can just get some trenches dug and put the tubes in horizontaly.
