I have seen this once or twice and of course see it a lot in regards to hybrid cars. I understand that electricity, in use, it cleaner than fossil fuels. But where in crap do people think the electricity comes from? Seriously, do people think that electricity is mined from the ground in that form?

It is largely just another fossil fuel that is consumed in some way to produce electricity. It is NOT a clean alternative.

Until the day comes that electricity is solely produced by methods such as wind turbines, this will never be the case.

well it depends.

Personally I love the Tesla electric car and I eventually want to get one.  However, I will not ever get an electric car until I am generating my own electricity from solar, wind or hydrogen power.

If you are generating your own fuel then it does make sense. Also if you are buying clean electricity (paying more for wind generated) then again it does make sense.

Agreed, and as I wrote in my first post, those are the only conditions under which electricity can be considered clean, or a biofuel. However most people do not take that into consideration, rather they just plug in a recharge (or however it is done) from their mains, the same, nasty polluting electric as they light their home by.

I really didn’t know there was “clean” and “dirty” electricity but that does make sense to me.
Either way, I think if more people could afford these cars and find ways to charge them up, we could cut back on so much pollution.

How about putting pedals in the back seat for passengers to generate electricity for the car? LOL. Seriously, it would keep the kids occupied on long trips and be good for them, too. smile

I like that idea! I know that there have been times when my daughter has been cooped up in the car for several hours because we have been on our way to somewhere that she would also have to sit still and be quiet for a few more hours. Then the return trip again in the carseat….

For those journeys this would be WONDERFUL! To be able to help her burn off energy and fuel the car at the same time.

Now QuietLunatic, I think you have an invention to invent.
