To prevent large-scale disaster as a result of global warming? I’m of the unfortunate mind to think that we have already damaged the environment and the atmosphere to an almost irreversible extent, and that the effects of global warming are upon us and will be for the forseeable future.

I know full well that countries will continue to produce harmful emissions, probably until the end of the world as we know it, but my question is are we too late to at least postpone the more dire consequences, or would a drastic cut in emissions at least put off the inevitable?

Additionally, when are these predictions going to really hit home? How long before low-lying countries are subjected to severe flooding?

I would have to agree with you on this one.  We are “too little too late” in many aspects, but that doesn’t mean efforts to live a more green lifestyle should fall by the wayside.  There are still some things we can avoid.

To answer your other question, I think that we will begin seeing the effects within our lifetimes, probably within the next 20 years.  I honestly try not to think about it, because it’s so depressing!

It will never be too late to try. If we can slow things down then who knows-some scientist somewhere may be able to make a bunch of machines that such the CO2 out of the air and lock it in solid carbon blocks that could be put in the foundations of houses!

If we see it as too late now, then nothing will ever get done. We will give up already and just sit on our rear ends until the end.

If everyone believes it is too late then they will do nothing to change it.  We have to believe it is NEVER TOO LATE to start turning it around.

If we can do our part and start turning it around then maybe in a couple of generations they will see the change starting and keep it going for the future.

It’s like stopping smoking.  If you have smoked for a long time you have done damage to your body but within 3 days of stopping smoking the changes start taking place.  You may not notice them at first but your body starts to heal itself in many ways.

So when someone says it’s too late for something they start the doom and gloom thinking and then everyone stops.  Then it really is too late.  Think positive, Take Positive Action.

I wouldn’t say that it is too late. I doubt if we can reverse any damage that has already been done but I think we can prevent it from getting any worse. I am just glad that more and more people are actually taking notice of it and attempting to do something about it.

Of course its not too late.

No one really knows when any of this is going to happen, but a defeatest attitude will never spark any change.

I am seeing change every day, big businesses are jumping on board because its good for their stocks. Hell Yahoo just went carbon neutral and will make it official on earth day.

This push and this conciousness is working and more and more people and businesses are jumping on board. We will never stop emissions totally, but I do believe we can get to a point where the effects will be reversed.

Its never too late, so do whatever you can to decarbonate you life!

I think it is to late , the damage is done and we will not slow it down enough anywhere near in enough time to make a differencce , now we will have to adapt and make changes to learn to live with what we have done, or at least our kids will

Well since there is no real evidence that people have cause global warming. Sure you can spout some off but it can all be refuted.
Anyways my point is that it is all natural and we should not really worry about it.

There is plenty of evidence out there to support the fact that humans are accelerating global warming. Yes the earth goes through natural changes (warming and cooling) but we are definently making a negative impact.

Unfortunately this topic has turned into a political debate in the news and big oil companies are doing an excelent job of missinforming the public. It reminds me of when smoking was “recommended by doctors” and they had those comercials that said “4 out of 5 doctors recommend Camel”.

Now everyone knows that smoking is bad and it causes cancer, but the disinformation back then camoflauged it for a long time. I am see many of these paralleles in todays media about global warming.

If you question global warming and you think we are so insignificant that we can possibly change the weather…. have you been to a big city lately where you see nothing but smog, acid rain and pollution. Those are things you can smell, taste ad feel and they cannot be denied, so to think that we do not have an impact on our environment is a cop-out.

Global warming is happening weather you believe it or not and 80% of scientist agree, 15% dont agree and are funded by exxon/mobile and the other 5% just dont agree for whatever reason.

The temperature of the earth has gone up by less than 1 degree in decades. That is not so alarming. There used to be global freezing everybody went on about. It is just a scare tactic.

You know that is a complete different thing. My body and the earth are not on the same scale. And the earth’s temperature changing my that degree is natural and has happened so many times in the past.

I hope for our children’s future that it is not to late.  Last year was a horrible year for nature related situations lets hope they help more people open their eyes to the need to change the way we are using the earth.

It is never too late to start acting!

However, I think it is human nature to wait until the last possible minute…until everything is going wrong…to actually sit up and take notice, which is sad.

HI Friend’s
I’m really not sure if global warming is even real or not.  There are just so many debates between the two.  I don’t doubt that we as human beings played a role in changing the climate at least slightly, but as mentioned before, the weather can turn sporatic in an instant, and though we have warmer weather now, a few months ago it was cooler.
