I wanted to ask this thing for a long time. especially on a forum like this!

What do you think about mankind? is man a blessing for this earth?

My point of view is that man is nature’s worst investment! man has knowledge and he can perform miracles but he is also irational when it comes to long terms effects.

I think man is the most terrible thing in the world(not trying to offend anybody). Man is greedy, selfish and doesn’t know when to stop. Look at all the people out there, they just care about themselves and about the present. Nobody ever thinks about future generations, they will find a devastated planet.
The most destructive animal is the human being.I mean, think about it, other animals hunt but only to stricly assure their needs. Noo, man has to be selfish and keep everything for himself.
But unfortunately people will realize their terrible behaviour when the planet will start its revenge.

i think man is concerned about the everyday things which really don’t matter in the end(what to wear, where to go out, etc) and he doesn’t notice the important things that count and can be improved.

Man has one deep, rooted desire - to survive. Though our behaviour may seem selfish, greedy and destructive, it comes out of a need to survive, evolve and better ourselves and our standard of living. Unfortunately, this comes at the cost of others and our planet.

I don’t think we mean to be selfish, it is just human nature. I doubt that we will ever realise just how destructive we are and have been since the dawn of man.

Mankind is not always natures friend.  There are many who are able to work kwonders for the environment but others who are dangerous for it.

When the balances play out between those who are good to our planet and those who are not, man truly is the Earth’s worst enemy. We are caretakers of this planet; the only one we have. And yet we are trashing it, pulling it apart and taking it for everything it is worth.

If tenants of a house were to treat the house as we do the planet, they would be evicted.

If you go scientifically then the whole theory is diffrent but if u ask religiously then every religion has diffrent aspect . Islam thinks that the final home of mankind is in heaven and earth is just   path to it .

man

I think man is his own worst enemy when it comes to the environment, and I really dont think it is a case of being irrational, more a case of thoughtlessness, carelessness and being inconsiderate and selfish :(

I think mankind is too self-aware for their own good.  Looks like our higher cognitive processes have made us a pretty selfish, self-serving species.  We take and take and take more than we need.

Oh Boy!!! Am I ever glad to see so many people speaking out against HuMANkind.  Humankind has no humanity for the most part.  Yes there are those that volunteer to help the poor and disabled but really the majority out there could care less.

HuMANkind is greedy, selfish, ME, ME, ME thinkers, they really only think of one thing for the most part and that’s money and how to make it and never mind that we destroy the land, the forests, the oceans, the rivers and the lakes.

Nevermind that we make certain necessary species extinct or almost extinct because that species can make money for certain parts of their bodies like elephant tusks, beavers, otters, foxes etc. for their furs, even when hunting they say that they HAVE to hunt because if they didn’t hunt then the country would be overrun with deer and moose and elk and everything else they hunt for.  BUT did they once consider the fact that their greed caused it all because they keep moving into Morraines and building houses and therefore the wildlife population have to move out to find another home.

Man creates the problems then the only way they can think to solve the problem is by hunting and killing.

I am so against mankind and their inhumanity to the world we live in that I get on the soap box whenever I can.

I’m off the soapbox now.

I totally agree with you SweetRiver and I appreciate the fact that you get on the soapbox.  Too many people sit idle and say nothing and do nothing when they see this happening and the viscious circle keeps going round and round.

Someday let’s hope the rest of the world realizes what they are doing wrong and everyone gets on the right track.

I think if humankind vanished overnight, the world would rebalance itself and go on quite happily. I think if all the trees vanished overnight, we’d be very, very sorry and dead fairly soon. smile We’re not a boon to our planet.

I too think that the Earth has a wonderful potential for healing itself, and if only we would leave it alone to do so, it would happen. Things would right themselves. I am not sure that we would have to be gone from the planet exactly, but we WOULD have to completely remove ourselves from our current life styles.

Man is one of the worst things to happen to earth, unfortunately. I believe that man is the earth’s downfall. It is a paradox, however, because if man were not existent, they could not enjoy the beautiful earth. smile
