That is not really a bad thing. Just cause ice breaks off you should not get all up and getting alarmed. It happens naturally all the time.

The giant Ayles Ice Island drifting off Canada’s northern shores has broken in two - far earlier than expected.

It does happen naturally but what if it starts to happen too often? Such a phenomenon will rise the water level of the sea and cause floods.
