What household appliance brands do you use? Which appliances do you recommend as being especially energy friendly? By appliances, I’m referring to refrigerators, stoves, washing machines, etc.

The only range that I know to specifically be energy friendly across the board are the Energy Star range of products. They have a large number of things including clothes washers, air conditioning units, fridges and freezers, computer monitors, dish washers-the works. Other than that I only know of certain items that are labeled as being friendly.

The only line I’ve heard of that offers energy efficient appliances is Energy Star as well, but are there no others? It seems like it would be in a company’s best interest to make more energy efficient items.

I use Energy Star as well. Seems to be one of the only brands my local store carries….. I wish there was more options.

actually, Energy Star is not really a brand. It is a governmental rating system for energy efficient appliances.

http://www.energystar.gov/

They basically give their “seal of approval” to any brand who manufactures an energy efficient appliance or electronic device.
So, if you are buying appliances with the energy star seal then you are getting a very energy efficient product.
