I have wondered about this for a while. Do you think that many countries have stores of oil for armed forces and so on-other essential things-for when oil reserves run out?

I have read several novels that talk of the US stores, but being works of fiction I dismissed that. However there seems some merit in it, since there is likely to be bedlam when the end comes if alternatives have not been found. Someone will need to keep order, and they are likely to need oil.

Do such stores exist? And what happens to us post peak?

I hate to think in truth what will happen next. I don’t think that anyone is really prepared for it, no country that is. I only hope that by then we have alternatives ready to go, or already going so that perhaps the oil lasts longer.

They have been saying we have reached the peak oil limit for decades yet we have not. We still have a lot of oil in reserves and a lot more in the ground waiting to be refined.

I think that while we are slowly but surely running out of oil, there’s still a lot in the ground if you know where to look.  I don’t think that we’ll be running completely out for a while.  Maybe in the next 50 years we’ll have to worry more about it.
