Is anyone driving less because of the recent hikes in gas prices? I know I’m trying to reduce the number of smaller trips I’ve been used to taking, and doing more in one run. Gas is up over $1.20 a litre right now—almost $5.00 a gallon. It’s crazy.

Not particularly. I don’t drive myself, and we always tended as a family to only do things like grocery shopping when we HAD to be out of the house for something else. So we visit the great grandparents after church, do shopping after other church meetings, do stuff on the way back from doctor’s visits. I guess we’ve always been tight with gas.

And today I made a long trip out of a bunch of shorter errands, which made for a pretty fun day, when all was said and done.

I can’t stand the price now! I want to move to the ‘burbs but I am afraid that the long commute to work will eat up half my salary.

I guess it would cause a noticeable problem if you were to move further away from the places that you normally have to go. Ultimately you will have to weigh up whether or not the quality of life in the suburbs would be improved enough from where you are, to merit the move. Or find a job closer!

I really wish I could! I’d love to not travel so far, not waste so much time on the road. But I have a wonderful job right now and I am not sure I could quite match it. Not worth the risk!

I wish I could stop buying gas. Right now it’s almost $4.00 here, but the only way I have to get to school is to drive. Unfortunately, I waste most of the money I make on gas.

Actually I wish I could walk more. I do not really live in an area where I can walk to too many places. I would love to be able to walk to the store for things. I go about every other day because I hardly ever get a cart load of stuff. This woud be convenient to just be able to walk and carry one bag back to the house.

I drive the same regardless of the gas prices. Prices weren’t as bad this summer as opposed to last. They’re around $2.40 at the moment.

gas prices will not fall in the long term people will adapt and will slowly go back to driving just as much as before as they do in the UK and France where the price is much higher

Gas here is around $3 a gallon.  I have noticed the streets are as full of traffic on the weekends now that the prices have gone up.  I personally walk more.  A few times I walked up to 10 miles because there was no bus and I had to get there.  I do need to purchase a vehicle now for work and feel that I need to get a fuel efficent vehicle as opposed to what I really want because I will be driving alot.

We have tried to reduce the number of trips to save on gas.  We walk when shopping in the neighborhood.

well I recently decided that I would quit coming home from work at noon to eat lunch. This desicion alone has cut my driving almost in half, so I only have to fill up my car once every two weeks, saving over $30 per month.

I hadn’t realized that gas got so expensive again.  It is over $3.00 here now and I find the prices just so scary.

That seems something nice and worth. I tend to walk almost 50% more than I used to. I like walking but I don’t like walking much. I cant afford to fill up my car because its too much expensive that’s the final reason.
