Many years ago we looked at composting toilets, but they required a huge amount of space for the waste products, which just wasn’t reasonable. We were a family of five at the time, and now there are only three of us living here. I’m wondering if anyone has more modern knowledge of composting toilets and any experience with them.

Although i havent installed one personally, composting toilets come in a wind range of shapes and sizes, so the space issue shouldnt be a problem unless you had your heart seat on one particular type.

There are a few that are called “remote composting systems” where the composting barrel is under the toilet and a little ways away, so its easier to work into your design or existing home.
