So I was reading something the other night and they referenced a “Green Freeze” technology that is apparently huge in the European countries.

After doing some reading is sounds like the lobbyist for Hydrocarbons have been keeping these refrigerators out of the United States (damn politicians). The refrigerators apparently use some other non destructive gases to effectively cool and freeze the food.

Anyway, I really want to buy one but I can’t find anyplace that sells them in the US. Does anyone know where these are being sold?

Peace,

Adam

Can’t point you in the direction of where to buy one from state-side I’m afraid, though I can tell you that the technology is popular and has been around for a little while now.

Not only does it make fridge and freezer appliances more “green”, but it also cuts down the costs involved with recycling these significantly. Here in the UK, we still have large stockpiles of old units waiting to have the harmful gases removed before they can be either destroyed or recycled. It’s a real problem, so the sooner the technology becomes widespread, the better for all concerned.

Unfortunately many people can’t see past short term money gains and losses to look at the big picture.

Hell, what good is money if you cant use it?

I wish these large chemical companies would quit lobbying against green technologies and get their R&D departments to get them positioned to make money from those same green technologies.

I really wish that we could get some of these in America. What companies manufacture them?

In the mantime, I found some information from greenerchoices.org on a few fridge’s that at least save on energy:

I haven’t heard of these thing! in every electronic product in our country it is displayed the energetic class of the product. not the green friendly level of it.
I don;t know about this. But i heard of fridges that use some other freezing agent than the traditional gas they used to. I am not a specialist in the matter.

YES! Of course they don’t display how green friendly they are, people only buy them if they are energy savers. I am so angry on all those companies that have the power to do something and don’t do it because they are happy with their sales.
Why is everybody thinking about money ? When our planet will be gone who is going to think about money?
This is why I don’t like most of the people….they only think about the short term gain and never about what they leave behind.

I too wish that I knew where they were available state side. I’m from the UK, and CFC containing fridges have been phased out over the past decade and a half or more. It is the norm now not the exception that your fridge is green.

Incidentally I don’t believe that the fridges emit the gases until they are landfilled-till they are split open or begin to leak. So if you already have one, it is debatable how Earth friendly it would be to replace it unless you also get one that is hugely energy efficient too.

American manufacturers are still behind European countries in their efforts to use products that are free of chemicals that deplete the ozone.American industry continues to put short term economic considerations rather than giving importance to long term environmental concerns. I wish that the american government would soon realize the importance of environmental friendly products like green refrigerators…
