Has anyone ever used some of their recycled items for crafting. This is a good way to keep down the amount of recycled items and also allows you to make some neat things. What do you do with your plastics, and cans and newspapers. I would like to know.

I know one or two artists who use a lot of recycled and salvaged materials. Everything from cardboard and newspaper to glass bottles and bits of wood get used to create all sorts of wierd and wonderful pieces.

I’m not really an artists so don’t always appreciate it, though I guess it’s better than buying new materials and creating double the waste.

never really thought about this too much, however it is a very good idea, and I think that you should be able to create a bunch of things out of recycled items. i will have to get my creative juices flowing and see what I can come up with now.

I’ve not done anything creative for me, but I do use things like that for my daughter. Yoghurt pots, bottles and so on can be cut up to use for crafts, boxes with pictures can be cut up to use in making collages.

For me, I just use newspaper to wrap food waste.

I use newspapers and plastic bags for household projects and for cleaning. I have a friend who is an artist who makes collages about everyday objects. He uses a lot of recyclables.

My daughter loves to rescue items for use in crafts. She’s 5 and I never know what she’s going to want to save. Sometimes it’s as simple as declaring that a cardboard box will now be a car; other times she’s cutting things up, glueing them, painting and so forth.

I had an old family friend who would save EVERYTHING. He just kept every box, bottle, can, anything possible. He would store it in his basement in case it was ever needed.

I have used papers for paper mache, but thats all. I’m not much of a artist, other than duck taping.

When I was in grade school I would use trash for little school projects. Not so much anymore but I guess if my kid ever needs to do something like that then I will be.

Actually, I’ve been seeing more and more of these at the flea market. Like having the Pepsi bottles as planters, it’s a great idea and I feel great about buying things like this.

I recylce cereal boxes, buttons and boxes for crafts.  By grandson likes to make time machines with large boxes.  He uses all kinds of things to put on the time machine and all the tape in the house to hold it together.

We recycle the plastic of all the bottled water that we bought. We used it as a water storage in our fridge. Old newspapers are being used wrappers for fruits and other things.

We use the newspaper in garden to reduce the weeds and hold in the moisture. We have also recycled the meat trays to use as painting trays for the kids when painting water colors.

Using recylces for crafts with the little ones is so much fun.  We have used tea boxes to make secret treasure chests and brown paper bags to make masks.

I think everyone has used pine cones for some type of craft.  We use pine cones as fire startes for the fire place.
