So I am pretty excited, I just got my hydrogen generator for my car and I am ready to get it all hooked up. Basically you add distiled water and Lye and the alternator provides the electricity to split the hydrogen and oxygen, which is then pumped into the combustions chamber.

It is supposed to get anywhere from 15% to 28% fuel savings and not to mention drastically cutting your carbon emissions.

Anyway here is a picture of the system:
(you can click on it to see a larger picture)

Ill let you know how it works after I get it installed and test it for a while.

P.S. oh yea.. Here is the link if you want to check it out:

Its funny you coment about hydrogen being explosive.

That was the same argument the “nay sayers” used when the gasoline engine was first introduced.

The fact is when hydrogen burns it doesnt scald the skin and if there is a leak the hydrogen is lighter than air so the vapors quickly escape and rise up into the atmosphere.

Unlike gasoline, it does stay around and form pools of highly flamable liquid. I honestly believe that hydrogen is much safer than gasoline.

Adam,

Good for you, I think it is great when people take the initiative and buy something like this. Is it easy to convert, or does it take some professional help here and there? I’ve read up on these things, but I’ve never known anyone that has had it done.

Well this one is just an oxy-hydrogen producer, so its does not really convert the whole car to a totally hydrogen burning car.

Basically you just hook it up to the alternator, then run a wire inside and mount an ammeter somewhere which will let you know when you need to add more Lye (KOH).

It shouldn’t take more than an hour. Im gonna try to get it installed this weekend.

I’m not offended at all, It is just that I too once had the same reaction to Hydrogen—>Its Explosive<—- Then I had an epiffany and realized that its no more dangerous than Gasoline.

Then after more research its seems to me that its actually less dangerous because it doesnt “pool” like Gas does, so in my mind it is a great alternative fuel and will most definently be the fuel of the future.

The key is getting the fueling stations in place and making them safe. So far a company Air Products (NYSE:APD) is leading the way in getting Hydrogen fueling stations on the ground and servicing people. I see this company blowing up because of this, and I dont know about you, but I’m investing is this one.

It’s a good way to save lungs and lives!
I am writing now and i can feel the smell of fresh pollution coming inside my room… it is awful !
In our country i don’t know someone to have such a device but many cars run on some gas. Not gasoline. They have an additional tank for gas. It’s an alternative for the classic. AS far as i know it is only cheaper but i don’t know about the damage it makes for the environment.

oxygen hydrogen generators

D   yes i think the oxygen hydrogen generators will become more popular as time passes…  i read where the systems have been around for years….  any way ..it really impressive me so yes i am getting my plans together to make a much larger unit… this summer…... the one i have now is home made works pretty good considering it just slightly bigger than a quart…  i use just 5 amps..wow it does make the bubbles…..as far as the millage i seems to get about 2 miles increase…...AND OF COURSE FOR THE SKEPTICS TRY MAKING YOU ONE SEE FOR YOUR SELF..  thanks fuel_millage   note.  i use regular baking soda.. works great..

My concern is less with the hydrogen and more with the lye. That stuff can cause some really serious burns, I would really be too scared to have that around with a baby around.

yea well its definently a good idea to keep it somewhere where your children cant get into it, just like any other cleaning product. Its no worse than draino though, and it comes in a solid flake so if it touches your skin its not that big of a deal unless its wet, even then you have time to wash up.

Agreed, that doesn’t sound as bad as (I hate to say this raspberry) the movies make out. If it’s solid then you have the chance to clean up before it does the damage.

If you were to get into a crash wouldn’t it be a lot more dangerous? I have some doubts about using Hydrogen but let me know how it goes? And where exactly do you go to refuel your car?
