Is recycling important to you only if your city provides you with a nice big rolling bin to put at the curb on trash pick-up day?  Or do you find so much value in recycling that you separate your own trash and take it to the recycling center yourself?

For me no. But for many other people, if they have to pay for the recycling bin then they would rather not recycle. If they are offered for free, which some in this area are, people still will not use them. This is a shame on them, because they are not understanding the effects that not recycling has on our global community.

I prefer it when dedicated recycling bins are offered, though there’s not much hassle involved in separating bottles, cans, paper and cardboard and so forth from regular trash.

We have big green bins for compostable material which we put out every second week. We’re supposed to separate all our other garbage into clear bags so the workers can see what’s what.

No it is important all the time and whether or not the city provide the receptacle for it. I think that for some people it may make the difference.

I make a very conscious effort to sort my trash, but the garbage collection system here is so corrupt. The recycling bin is full of trash, and the trash bin is full of recyclables. It makes me mad that others in my neighborhood don’t take it as important.

In truth I am not anywhere near as good with recycling as I could be. I was much better back in the UK. Here, there is a limited requirement but beyond that I struggle to find time. In the UK I had no where to store my trash but in my house, no yard or anything. So EVERYTHING got sorted and recycled accordingly.

I have a couple bins in my garage that I keep certain things in. When they get filled up I just take them myself. I feel better when I go.

I think the only reason my family does it is because we were provided with a separate recycling can.

Re: Recycling bins

You make a strong point… I beleive it’s those special blue bins in our area that is the only reason most people do any recycling at all.

I want to buy several recycling bins. Would prefer tall narrow bins. ... you can go computer shop ... In many states they will give you recycling bins
